Orymu – Account Deletion & Data Removal

This page explains how to request deletion of your Orymu account and the personal data associated with it.

Note: Uninstalling the app does not delete your account or your data. Please follow the steps below to request account deletion.

1. How to request account deletion

If you can access the app

  1. Open the Orymu app.
  2. Go to Profile → Settings → Account.
  3. Tap Delete account and follow the on-screen confirmation steps.
  4. After confirming, your account will be scheduled for deletion.

If you cannot access the app

You can request account deletion via email:

  1. Send an email to: support@orymu.com
  2. Use the subject line: "Orymu account deletion request"
  3. Send the email from the same email address you used to register (either password login or Google login).

Please include the following in your email:

  • Your full name (optional)
  • The email address linked to your Orymu account
  • A short statement:
    "I request deletion of my Orymu account and personal data."

We may contact you to verify your identity before processing the request.

2. What data is deleted

When your deletion request is processed, we delete or anonymize the following data associated with your account:

Account information

  • Email address
  • Password hash (for email/password login)
  • Google account identifier (for Google login)

Reading-related data

  • Your saved books and metadata stored in Orymu
  • Reading history and progress (e.g., last read position, timestamps)
  • Reading streaks, statistics, and similar progress information

Content you created in the app

  • Notes, highlights, flashcards, and other study items
    (if available in your version of the app)

After deletion, you will no longer be able to log in or recover this data.

3. What data may be retained and why

We may retain limited information that cannot be used to identify you, such as:

  • Aggregated or anonymized analytics data
    (e.g., "total number of books added by all users," crash statistics)

We may also keep certain minimal records if legally required (for example, security logs). These records will not be used to provide services to you or to build a profile.

4. Data retention period

  • We aim to delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days after confirming your request.
  • Data stored in system backups is automatically overwritten and fully removed within up to 90 days.
